Last Thursday, January 7th, the district’s High School Boundary Advisory Committee presented a refined “Learning Map,” in response to the December 17th meeting. The newest adjustments resulted in a more evenly dispersed population, ultimately leveling out the school capacities; the more prominent changes being an addition of almost 400 students to the South Cooper Mountain High School and a reduction of approximately 350 students from Sunset. Some parents and students are still unhappy with where that places them as the issues with equality, transportation, safety, and neighborhood unity still remain. However, more of the community now wants to see an emphasis placed on improving the transition.
The next meeting will be a public preview, accepting input from the community. It will be held on Thursday, January 21st at 6:00pm, and will be located at Five Oaks Middle School.
